A way off yet, yes - but we all need something to look forward to... Hopefully a few warm sunny days will show themselves... No plans myself in the near future for any gigs... A few health issues, nothing dramatic... What's everyone up to in the next few months...? Gig wise, family wise, holiday wise. - all that kinda stuff... Maybe a good thread for us noobs to get nattering... And to chat with some 'oldies' on here... Those who were on the previous forum, I mean - wasn't being ageist... I'm the wrong side of 40 myself

Aww this is a lovely thread. Yes sunshine would be nice wouldn't it? Can't believe it snowed today! I'm definitely a Summer person. Hope your health issues are nothing to worry about headintheclouds. Got quite a few gigs lined up now which I'm happy about - The Stranglers, Frank Turner, Madness, Bruce Springsteen, Rewind Festival in August (80's acts, Adam Ant, Rick Astley (hell yes!), The Bangles, OMD, so should be good) and hoping to see Noel Gallagher again at some point as he was amazing on Thursday night. Looking forward to seeing what the Leeds Festival lineup is in a week's time. Most of the bands I was hoping to see have been announced as playing other festivals of course (Stone Roses, New Order, Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets etc) but fingers crossed some do Leeds and that the actual lineup is better than the supposed 'leaked' ones that are floating around the t'internet. All's well with the family, a week's holiday booked in Cornwall which we're looking forward to and work's mad but not too bad, so all is fine and dandy at the moment.

My summer may either be here in Devon, at my aunts OR back in Cornwall either In Falmouth or Truro because I'm NEVER moving back with my parents, don't get me wrong I love them and they love me it's better if i just keep away LOL! I'm feeling optimistic about the future and I've not felt this contented with my life for YEARS it's a good feeling!

Aw what a nice idea!
Well, this year is a biggie for me, graduating from uni in July (if all goes to plan). I'm training to be a Primary teacher, so have a placement to do between April and June. At the minute I'm applying for every teaching job in the area, a lot of competition though. So will be scary/exciting all in one.
Gigwise I'm seeing Coldplay in June and going to Evolution Festival in Newcastle, and that's it for now, but hoping to fit another festival in.
That's about it for now.

Seems Cornwall is rather favoured... Personally, I absolutely adore it there... Without doubt one of my most favourite places... It's just so beautiful - quite impossible to pinpoint one favourite area... The beaches alone are enough to take your breath away - and as for the scenery... Went there last a couple of years back - a place called Crackington Haven... Exquisite location, gorgeous little cottage - can't rave about it enough... Three or four neighbouring properties that are also holiday lets... Quite rural, so not necessarily somewhere to take the kids... Perfect though if there's only the two of you - and you just want to get away from it all... I've enclosed a link if anyone should happen to be interested... We stayed in The Old Smithy - which has its own stream running through the garden www.mineshop.co.uk/Hope your health issues are nothing to worry about headintheclouds. Rick Astley (hell yes!) OMD Thanks Just the usual ''oh hell I'm getting old'' niggles that are sent to try us... Oh and let's not forget the appendectomy... Wouldn't recommend it - can think of less painful experiences... Like having your teeth pulled out with pliers perhaps... Didn't realise THE Astley was still performing... Haha - I still remember the polo neck... Let's not forget either the ''I really need a wee'' dancing... Loved that song I did... Would love to see OMD - still love their stuff to this day... Have a brilliant time - and post some reviews please! NEVER moving back with my parents, don't get me wrong I love them and they love me it's better if i just keep away LOL! Haha - that brings back some memories... Got on so much better with my parents once we had separate front doors. ;D Well, this year is a biggie for me, graduating from uni in July (if all goes to plan). Hopefully if all goes to plan i'll be off to Cornwall too, back home to where i used to work for a week or two if all goes to plan in July so all should be good Apart from that, i have 18 weeks worth of exam preperation to pack into 6 weeks. My fault for choosing 4 creative subjects with 6 weeks preperation running at the same time, they should stagger them more for people like myself. Although i know someone doing 5 so has 24 weeks worth. I'm just glad i'm not them. Other than that i'll have 2 months off after so will be making the most of it! ;D No gigs currently planned, hoping to be able to do 1 or 2 of the Pigeon Detectives dates and if Club Smith don't announce any other dates, then one of the festivals they're doing Aw what a nice idea! Haha yeah, Rick Astley's still performing, and he's really good! He supported Peter Kay, and I saw him do Rewind in 2010. Still does the need a wee dance too, know exactly what you mean! And I've never seen OMD before so I'm really looking forward to them, they were fab back in the day. And Crackington Haven is beautiful, really love it there. Went a few years ago, lots of rockpools I remember. Smashing beach. And good luck sophiechiefs!

Bring on some hot weather in July please - I've just booked my holiday! Back to Crackington Haven for me... Apologies btw for the going on a bit in my earlier post... Kinda sounded like I was on commission for the Tourist Board... Just get a bit carried away whenever I talk about Cornwall... Guess it's not the end of the world if it rains occasionally anyways... Still plenty of indoor activities to be had. www.thecornishcyderfarm.co.uk/

;D Couldn't have put it better myself! Having just got back yesterday from aforementioned trip to Cornwall, I come on here and see this... After the last few days I've had, this really made me laugh. Thanks Sal! 52 weeks in the year - and I had to pick one where the ducks were having more fun... To be fair though, it wasn't that bad. The sun did say hello on a few occasions... And it's always lovely to go back to The Eden Project... My arm really had to be twisted though, when it came to visiting The Cornish Cyder Farm again. Hope a few of you at least get some decent holiday weather... And post some descriptions/pictures of the sun. Please! Because we've all forgotten what a full day of sunshine looks like

Well I've had my holiday already (first week in June we went off to Scotland to celebrate our wedding anniversary), we had absolutely glorious weather in Edinburgh while back in London everyone shivered in the cold and wet for the Jubilee weekend: Edinburgh Castle: Going over the Glenfinnan Viaduct between Fort William and Mallaig, on the Jacobite steam train (Hogwart's Express!) View from the train of the Isle of Skye etc. at Morar: We were very lucky with the weather, and it was a fantastic holiday (Blair Atholl was a lovely place to stay, the trip up the Cairngorm Mountain Railway was good, too).

Some lovely photos there Mrs Sloth... And congratulations on your anniversary Those pics have got me feeling all reminiscent; spent many a holiday in Scotland as a child... My dad was born in Aberdeen and had friends and family dotted about who we'd stay with... The scenery sure is beautiful there, but I guess you don't really appreciate it when you're young... Seeing those images make me want to book a little jaunt in that direction... Brrrr, hasn't it got chilly lately - especially at night... Found myself sticking the heating on for the first time the other day... Clocks go back too end of October. Have people had a good 'summer' though? I use the word loosely.

Just booked my holiday! Wasn't gonna bother this year; just have a few days out instead... But what with everything, I kinda figured I deserve it. Gonna take the plunge and go on my own for a change... Sometimes you just need to escape from what's familiar and do your own thing for a while. I can't wait tbh. Not swanning off to the Maldives or anything... Chance would be a fine thing Just four simple days in Brighton. So it may not be wildly exciting, but I love the sea and it's somewhere I've always really liked. A thorough look around The Lanes, me thinks... Maybe an open top bus ride to Devil's Dyke... Purely for the scenery of course. The gorgeous little pub up there won't even feature in my plans. Was gonna go the last week in May; less people and you quite often get some good weather... And besides which, the rest of the summer was looking a bit tricky this year for getting away... June, I'm stupidly busy and I can't really do July or August... Preliminarily booked where I wanted to go, just needed to confirm. Glad I didn't. I've now had to change it to June. Seems the British Soap Awards are the last week in May; the 24th... Which means they'll probably be televised on the 28th... They usually tend to be around the first half of the month; so inconsiderate of them to change it Obviously I wanna be around, in the unlikely event that I'm lucky enough to get a ticket for the second year running. If I'm not, then I at least wanna be able to watch it in the comfort of my own home. Fortunately for me, the holiday place still had a couple of dates left and I was able to juggle a few things... It's been a right old kerfuffle Worth it though.
