(another thread brought over from the old forum)
I recently got my hands on the new Wombats, new Pigeon Detectives and Biffy Clyro's Only Revolutions.
To be honest, I can't really say my opinion on the new Pigies since I didn't even finish listening to it. There was something... off about it. First few songs sounded too much like stuff I heard before and didn't wanna hear again. Should give it another listen since I like both She Wants Me and Done in Secret. But if this album is like the previous ones, it could be that we have these two good things in a pile of averageness (or worth).
I really enjoy both other albums. Biffy's feel really complete, like I can listen to it from start to finish (and I have several times) without wanting to skip over to my favourites, and I do like many of the songs on it. There's a great flow to it I think, balancing the slower/softer songs with the heavier ones.
As for Wombats, I love it, but more for the songs themselves than the album. A few of them still seems like the old Wombats, out for a laugh more than the actual music, but all is all, I just can't get enough of Jump Into The Fog, Tokyo, 1996, Techno-Fan, Our Perfect Disease... Very much recommended!

Adele's 21
Its a lovely album, however if you've broken up with someone or are feeling a bit depressed you might want to give it a miss
The Blackout - Hope
Album number 3 and a more serious effort. Some great riffs, great sing alongs and some great numbers live. Less shouty than normal which is a good thing. Even though my favourite "You know your not alone", apparently wont be one they will do live, I still love it.
Welsh Rock, nu metal, Ballads and shouty bits - love it

Fantastic album, Definately show some depth and maturity on this one. From moshing to Never By Your Side to the beautiful The Last Goodbye. They are also the nicest blokes you could ever meet, and they're Welsh Have also recently bought We Are The Ocean - Go Now And Live Mainly bought this from seeing the Guys Support Funeral For A Friend in Munich. Some absolutely cracking tunes that get stuck in your head straight away from the first listen. The contrasting vocals from Liam and Dan work so so well. Loving What It Feels Like off the album. I love seeing a band play live before Ive actually given them much attention to on record. Being blown away in both instances very rarely happens to me.

Pete and the Pirates - One Thousand Pictures
I thought it would be difficult for them to top Little Death but this is a great album, with some massive songs. It hasn't disappointed

Had a bit of a binge yesterday after Leeds Festival, got the Miles Kane album, two by Seasick Steve, the first two Madness albums on CD (had them on vinyl) and also The Offspring greatest hits.
Listened to most recent Seasick Steve album and The Offspring so far and loved both.

Velociraptor! was the last one for me, too. The best thing about it is the track listing. Kasabian really know how to organise a solid album. I read reviews that it's their best album thus far, but I'm not so sure just yet. My favourite track has to be 'Re-wired'. It has echoes of 'Take Aim' and it's the right length (anyone else think Kasabian was having trouble gauging song lengths with WRPLA?). And the music video...I can't stop replaying. 'Switchblade Smiles' was the only grower for me but now I love it right down to Serge's screaming. 'Days Are Forgotten' sounds like old-school Kasabian yet it fits nicely between post-Karloff tracks. 'Acid Turkish Bath' is a good style interlude, as well. When I get my nanny'ing certificates, I'm so teaching the kids 'Velociraptor' ;D
