Ooh, Howard Jones, nice! My Willy Mason ticket has been lost in the post so I will need to call nearer the time to arrange getting in. I did look at All The Young, too, but we're on holiday around that time so just not practical.

Howard Jones is doing two sets, playing his first two albums in their entirety, the two albums that I played to death as a kid! Tickets are still on sale I think if you fancy it?
That's a shame about your Willy Mason ticket, hope that gets sorted ok. I'm hoping to be able to make it.
Shame about All The Young too, can you do any other dates? I'm up for doing more than one!

Haha! I have to say, Joey's now joint first with Donnie since watching videos of the gigs on YouTube. Though this may change tomorrow night. Paloma Faith in July for me too, thanks Mrs S - looking forward to that. Fingers crossed for Paul Simon, I bet he'll be great.

Howard Jones at Shepherds Bush Empire in April. Not going to mean a lot to anyone else I guess, but he's playing his first two albums in their entirety. I almost wore those two albums out by listening to them so much when I was in my teens, so I'm really looking forward to it. How was your night? I should imagine it was a night to remember! Could you possibly post a review - would love to read it. Loved him back in the day... How's Jed? Or maybe he's thrown off his mental chains... ;D ..

Could you possibly post a review - would love to read it. Loved him back in the day... How's Jed? Or maybe he's thrown off his mental chains... ;D .. Aww thank you, yes it was pretty special! Jed wasn't there in person unfortunately but he'd pre-recorded video that was shown on the screen behind, mostly during Equality. Was lovely to see him with his half/half makeup on again. I think I actually awww'd out loud when his face appeared. Howard played two sets, the whole of Dream into Action first, then after a short break, Humans Lib. All 22 tracks and he sang them effortlessly, sounded brilliant, just the same as he always did but it was as though everything had been tweaked up a notch if you know what I mean. He had two backing musicians, one on drums, the other with a range of laptops and keyboards. The music just filled the room, songs I never thought I'd hear live, album tracks that were my old favourites. Got goosebumps when I heard the piano on Assault & Battery, Hide & Seek was pretty magical, Equality, Human's Lib sounded ace. He was pretty smiley throughout and cracking jokes, telling us a bit about the songs before he played them. Just a great atmosphere. People singing along one minute, standing there taking it all in the next. Smashing. Was standing in the second row so got to shake his hand during Like To Get To Know You Well. Last time I did that it was 1984, haha! My first gig ever. Couple of pics if you want to see them. i13.photobucket.com/albums/a270/sallysmith1973/405120_10150707517358161_524403160_9567049_1346702616_n.jpgi13.photobucket.com/albums/a270/sallysmith1973/562545_10150707515773161_524403160_9567041_1159848909_n.jpgBut really enjoyed it, I'd recommend seeing him like a shot. He's announcing gigs here and there, doing IOW Festival but only touring the two albums in full in the US now I think. Thanks for asking.

Lovely review Sal - thanks so much for posting. Sounds incredible; am quite jealous... Would absolutely love to see him live... Unfortunately, gigs are not an option for me for the foreseeable... Not really conducive to the healing of my recent(ish) appendix removal... Especially not the way I am at gigs - all elbows and jumping The day I have to sit down to see a band live is never gonna come... Just not my thing... I would have gone aww too when I saw Jed... And I'm loving the whole handshake thing... Am appreciating the photos; they made me smile... Am feeling all reminiscent now...

Thank you, you're welcome. That's a shame, sorry to hear you're not gig-fit at the moment! Hope you're feeling better soon. I remember him saying something about a DVD of the first 'two album' show he did at the Indigo2 in London, I think you can get it off his website if that's any use.

Thank you! Toddled on over there - and have ordered myself a copy. Wow, brilliant! Hope you enjoy it. It arrived a few days ago. Mad busy lately, so not had a chance to watch it yet; will post back when I have... If you didn't catch it - BBC4 this morning 00.10... Synth Britannia - 70s and 80s journey through the BBC synth-pop archives... Primarily The Old Grey Whistle Test and Top Of The Pops... I'm sure it's been on before; just don't remember it myself... Worth watching the whole way through - if only to see Andy McCluskey from OMD's hair! Mr Jones is on quite near the end - 1984 Top Of The Pops ( very smiley ;D ) performance of What Is Love... Don't know what was up with the crowd though - a right miserable bunch...
