Still crossing my fingers for you Scrum; they could still add one at the beginning Hate to be a downer, but there isn't time at the beginning. They're in Leeds Sep. 11th, then Boston Sep. 13th. Sorry, scrum. But a trip to NYC could still be fun, eh? I noticed that too, and it really bummed me out. Not that I don't want to go to New York; it definitely would be a perfect "excuse" to go at that time, but the reality is it's only two months away and I seriously doubt I'll be able to afford it. I'm already crazily planning a trip to New Brunswick at the end of this month to see the last U2 360 show (Arcade Fire opening!). I don't know. I'll see. Small chance they might swing back east again after Vancouver?I'm hoping!

This tour just kinda popped up from out of nowhere, didn't it? It's like the Chiefs said, "Surprise! We'll be over there in a couple of months!" which unfortunately doesn't give you much time to make arrangements or plan for a trip if you need to. I'm hoping they'll be back again next year, and if they are, that their tour manager will allow more time, and add more dates in different locations for a proper tour. If only North America wasn't so big!

I'm actually surprised that they're even coming over here for 1 or 2 shows, much less 12 shows.

Well, looks like I'm going to the NYC show. ;D After half-assedly discussing it with a couple friends, I was looking around for tickets to Daily Show/Colbert Report and saw that they were actually available on the official websites for the same week that Chiefs are playing. I went ahead and reserved seats for both shows (on Monday & Tuesday, respectively), keep in mind that I've periodically checked those sites for tickets several times over the last few years and there's never been tickets available, let alone for BOTH shows on the exact dates I wanted. I took it as some sort of sign. We also bought tickets to the disaster Spiderman musical for a laugh (even though as a U2 fan I like to pretend it never existed) and another Broadway show created by the South Park guys. And my one friend has a rich friend in New Jersey who's gonna let us stay at his house while we're there. It's turning into a nice little trip; thanks for being the impetus, Kaiser Chiefs! Anyone else gonna be there?

All right, Scrum, that's really cool! Yep, looks like a sign that you are destined to be there. Sounds like a fun trip! ("The Book of Mormon" is the name of the South Park guy's play. Kinda like to see that show myself!)
Wish I could say I was going to the NYC gig, but I'm going West Coast (San Francisco, and I've now added Portland as well.) Maybe someday I'll try East Coast. Anyway, surely someone else must be doing the NYC gig?
Have fun! Looking forward to a report from you when it's over! ;D

I'm still trying to sort Atlanta out - I'm hoping to make a decision in the next few days. Schedule conflicts are being a PITA ...

Say, wha-?! Uh oh! I wasn't going to the LA gig, but that news makes me a bit nervous. I really hope that's the only gig they cancel. This had better not be 2007 all over again!

Hmmm very 2007 retro except this time we got new dates... I don't think I'm even going to risk planning on going to Atlanta in the spring.

Sorry to all you American fans that now have to wait until March, really hope you can all cancel flights etc. ok and get your money back. Such a shame, gutted for you. And Universal Motown closing - blimey, that's the end of an era. Motown Records go way back.

This is actually pretty good news for me, because my NYC trip kind of fell apart (one friend can't afford it, the other is starting school) and now I won't be as upset that I can't make it. But it sure sucks for everyone else. I'm holding onto hope there might be a Toronto date now... last night when I was checking Ticketmaster for something else I noticed an "alert" for Kaiser Chiefs in my area, but when I clicked on it I got an error message and it's not there anymore. We'll see, I guess.

I am so sorry for you American fans, this is really bad news. I hope for those who booked a flight, that you can cancel it and can get most of your money back. Fingers crossed that the new dates work out for everyone and that they will announce a new show in L.A. soon.

Ughhh....well, we've waited this long. Guess we'll have to wait awhile longer. On the good side I'm in walking distance to the Fillmore in SF so at least my travel plans aren't a mess. Maybe by then I'll be full-time employed with more money to spend on merchandise.

I think I'm the only sucker who has to worry about changing and re-booking flights. That'll teach me to be organised and not wait 'til the last minute. (Cherylcyn - you're right, there will be a change fee, I think $150 for all three flights. Ugh! What was once so cheap has suddenly become very expensive. But it is still cheaper than cancelling and booking again later.) Anyway, I hope they add more dates for those that want them (I wouldn't complain if they added one here. It's been six years since.) But I have a feeling that what you see is what you get. And Universal Motown closing - blimey, that's the end of an era. Motown Records go way back. Yes, shame about Motown. But it may work out better for the Chiefs if they find a new record label that will be more aggressive in promoting them on this side of the pond.

You know, as I think about it, I'm kinda glad the Chiefs have to get a new label in the US. Maybe now there won't be such a long wait between release in the UK and a US release. It seems with every album the wait has gotten longer and longer. It's ridiculous that we're now having to wait several months after the album has been released in the UK to get it here. I thought the week's wait with OWTH was bad enough. But with TFIM, it's going to be about 9 or 10 months! (Of course I realise the wait is longer now because they need to get a new label. But if Universal hadn't folded, it was still a wait of several months.)

We'll have to see how this shakes out; they may get moved over to another Universal label (hopefully not). It would be nice for them to get on some great indie label that might actually promote them. Thanks for the kind words from our UK boardies; we'll see them in 6 months time

And maybe they could promote the download of the 20 tracks etc. side of things now big time, especially seeing as people now sadly have to wait longer for the physical release. Didn't you say that it wasn't publicised very much over there?

Sal - Kaiser Chiefs are pretty much non-existent here. You hear their songs occasionally. The new Knight Rider a couple of years ago really liked them but I think that got axed. Then there was some kiddie film earlier this year using GDBD... Best thing for the Chiefs is to get some sort of cult status or hit the silly Supermassive Black Hole jackpot which I just don't see happening. I always get the feeling they are one massive hit away from owning the US. The other thing that could happen is if a rapper picks up on them. Considering they just did some sort of hiphop festival? (did I get that right) that may or may not be a non-starter. They may have cult appeal Dr Who and Top Gear (UK) are developing quite a following so the more they are played on their and BBCAmerica the better.

Right, what River said. I kinda envy the fact that those in the UK (and even Europe) get to hear the Chief's music in commercials, or whilst grocery shopping. That simply doesn't happen here. I can't remember the last time I heard them on the radio (I think I heard IPAR about a year ago on an indie college station.) And I've heard one of their songs from OWTH on the TV show "Chuck" once (I think it was NMAB.) Anyway, it's a wonder they have any American fans at all with so little exposure. I often wonder how other American fans have heard of them. I always get the feeling they are one massive hit away from owning the US. I get that feeling too. With each new album, there's the hope that it will finally have the song that breaks through. But by the time TFIM is finally released, "Little Shocks" and "Man On Mars" will be old news, so I don't see that happening with this album. And maybe they could promote the download of the 20 tracks etc. side of things now big time, especially seeing as people now sadly have to wait longer for the physical release. Didn't you say that it wasn't publicised very much over there? Nope, nothing. As a fan of the band, I tried to find something (from an American source just to see if anyone over here is paying attention) when it first came out, but came up empty.

Feel for you modflower and other US fans. That news sucks - just as well Kaiser Chiefs fans are committed to the cause! No doubt the concert will be unbelievable and all the costs/drama will have been worth it! :0) (The concert in Melbourne here in Oz was certainly worth the 5 hour cross country drive, and grossly overpriced accommodation!! ;0) )

Thanks, Sasori! I know it will definitely be amazing! The Chiefs are the only band I travel for. Just wish I could see them this month instead of six months from now. But on the bright side, at least it was just postponed and not cancelled outright. So could've been worse!

But on the bright side, at least it was just postponed and not cancelled outright. So could've been worse! Shush you don't go giving them ideas! I think I need to do a Kaiser Chiefs shirt about we will always have Atlanta if either of us could manage to get there at the same time... bit long winded though! And TBH I know this is going to sound ungrateful. However, I think Chiefs are good enough that if they ever did the US slog of going from university campus to campus and very small venues they would indeed develop a following. Heck that's how REM started and I wish I could say I wasn't old enough to remember that on my own... I don't think the Chiefs "want" the US badly enough to do it.
